INDIANOLA, Iowa (Apr. 16, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's golf team captured the overall team title and took home medalist honors as it wrapped up its 2024-25 season at the Simpson College Spring Invite on Wednesday at the Indianola Country Club.
BVU went out and carded a 331 overall and held off runner-up Loras College by nine strokes. Junior
Brooke Stellmaker helped lead the way with a round of 77 that gave her medalist honors for the first time in her collegiate career. She won the tournament by three strokes over North Iowa Area Community College's (NIACC) Megan DeLong.
Aside from Stellmaker, junior
Hailey Bistodeau was right behind in third with an 81, sophomore
Riley Haschke took fifth with an 83 and
Naomi SchraderBachar came in 14th with a round of 90. BVU finished the day with eight birdies, including three from Stellmaker - all on the front nine.
A total of five teams and 37 golfers took part in the 18-hole event.
Stellmaker is the first Beaver to earn medalist honors in an event since Megan Myers did so back on Sept. 22, 2013 at the Iowa Lakes Invite. The last time BVU captured an overall team title was back in 2011-12 at the Iowa Central Spring Invite on Apr. 17, 20212.
